98% of FFA members at National Trail completed the Job Interview Experience by creating a resume and cover letter, completing an application, interview and follow up letter. The FFA members were interviewed by agricultural professionals throughout the school day. FFA members are better prepared for interviews as a result of completing the Job Interview Experience.
FFA members were encouraged to become active members of society by hosting a Legislative Luncheon for the 85% of faculty of National Trail and 28 elected officials. Tess Elsahoff, State School Board President, as well as Representative Rezabek and Senator Beagle were three of the key guests present. The National Trail Board of Education and Preble County elected officials were also present for the luncheon. FFA members prepared questions prior to the luncheon so they would have key topics to discuss over lunch.
Fifty-six or seventy-eight percent of Greenhand members attended the Greenhand Lock-in after a Friday night home football game in order to maximize their Personal Growth. Greenhands participated in a rotation of workshops led by Chapter and State Officers to increase awareness of their potential and look at opportunities the FFA has available for each of its members.
The Career Success Committee worked diligently to put an informational packet together to assist community members seeking employment. Twice a month FFA members set up a Career Success station at the local food pantry in New Paris to assist community members with applying for jobs by creating a cover letter, resume and follow up letter. 85% of community members that were assisted secured full-time employment.
Students bagged 500 bags of food for Preble County residents. Each bag contained two nutritious recipes that were selected by the Human Resources Committee with all of the ingredients to prepare the two recipes in a stove or microwave oven in one
The Support Group worked with the National Trail MVCTC FFA Alumni including grain farmers, seed dealers, and the local co-op in order to rent, plant, spray and harvest a 15.5 acre test plot. FFA members contacted the local alumni members for assistance on the test plot. With only five of our FFA members coming from a production farm, this activity was vital in making sure the other 165 members were able to get real-life experience in production agriculture.
